Athens Central Market and More

Experience the Tastes of Greece

You’ll also walk the city’s quaint spice street, browse through mom-and-pop specialty shops selling local wine, olive oil, cheese or olives, and sample what’s behind the glass counters at family-run delicatessens. The aromas of fresh, out-of-the-oven savory pies, the tempting displays of Greek pastries and sips of Greece’s strong and tasteful spirits round out the food tour.

Discover Athenian Food Culture

In between each bite, you’ll gain insight into Greece’s fascinating food culture, the evolution of the country’s cuisine and the healthy nature of locally produced, organic ingredients.

Explore the Famous Plaka & Anafiotika District

After the guided portion of the tour, you will have the opportunity to explore one of the oldest neighborhoods in the world: Plaka and Anafiotika area, which is located on a hill above Plaka district. You will have free time to wander this unique urban pocket of culture and charm which oozes with atmosphere. Here, you can stop at simple, traditional or trendy outdoor cafes, shop at mom-and-pop boutiques selling local goods and souvenirs or try a local dish at traditional eateries. Plaka is a district where diverse architectures merge and the perfect place to snap the most memorable of photos as you stroll down the narrow stone pedestrian walkways and wander cobbled paths shaded by colorful bougainvillea. Admire the white washed cubic houses with bright painted shutters and beautifully carved wooden doors, elements of a typical Cycladic architecture! Here everyone may sip on their Greek coffee or a glass of wine like they would in a typical Cycladic Island.
